Covid-19 Government announcements (in short)

Update .jpgUpdate .jpg

While you are busy with running your business, we’ve summarised the key points from yesterday’s Government announcements that might be of interest to you.

HR Advisory Services

Your business may be eligible for new funding through the Regional Business Partner Network.  There are two funds available – Covid 19 and Capability.  We are registered as a supplier for both funds and are working with many businesses throughout New Zealand.  To find your local Growth Advisor or to apply for funding, go to www.regionalbusinesspartners.co.nz

Wage Subsidy Schemes

The Government announced a new Resurgence Wage Subsidy scheme on 17 August 2020 following the recent outbreak.  It’s a two week payment available to businesses throughout New Zealand who can show at least a 40% drop in revenue due to Covid 19 for a 14 day period from 12 August to 10 September compared to a similar period in 2019.  You can apply between 21 August and 3 September 2020.  The wage subsidy rates remain unchanged.  For more information click here:

The Wage Subsidy Extension is still available and applications for this scheme close on 1 September 2020.

A reminder - you can't receive more than one wage subsidy payment for the same employee at the same time.

Leave Support Scheme

If your employees are unable to come to work and can’t work from home due to Covid then the Leave Support Scheme is available.  This applies to those who have tested positive for Covid 19 or have come into contact with someone who has Covid 19 and are required to self-isolate.  It also covers those who are at a higher risk or have household members that have a higher risk of contracting Covid 19.

Effective from 21 August, the Government have removed the employer’s revenue-drop test.

Income Relief Scheme

If you do need to make redundancies in your business, the Government has made available a 12 week payment to individuals who lose their job (including self-employment) due to Covid 19 between 1 March and 30 October 2020.  This scheme requires the individual to apply (not the employer) and they must still meet the eligibility criteria.  For more information, click here.
