As part of our strategic plan, we are on the hunt (excuse the pun) for someone with our “out there doing it” attitude who brings category management expertise to support business growth.
You’ll be focused on developing category strategies and plans, product ranges and promotions for our stores. This will be backed by your sharp analytical ability and use of data to deliver insights and inform decision making.
To make a genuine impact in this iconic kiwi cooperative, it is essential you develop strong relationships with store owners, stakeholders and suppliers. For our store owners, you need to connect and understand their perspective. You will then readily switch from thinking and talking retail operations to strategy with suppliers and management.
There is an education aspect to this role by facilitating group buying processes and informing store owners on promotional and pricing activities. Additionally, you will lead supplier negotiation and performance.
About you:

Implicitly understand the value and importance of brand.
Use your commercial nous to think ahead of the pack.
Bring a depth of experience in various CM roles within a co-operative and/or corporate retail environment.
Be number savvy with the ability to analyse data that supports decision making.
Have high EQ and use it to achieve results.
Experience working with a strong online offering and/or building an ecommerce business would be fantastic.
Your abilities will be backed by a relevant qualification (or equivalent experience).
This is a nationwide role and some travel will be required.
